I have been out most of the day getting my oil changed and other stuff and just read the replies.
I the tech told me he would have to move the camper, I asked if I could sat in and lay down because I was not feeling well, he said OK and told me he would go slow. I was locked in for the time it took to drive a few hundred feet at 5 MPH plus a minute it took him to open the door. When the camper stopped I discovered I was locked in and was not concerned at all. What I was concerned with was what if this happened under different circumstances. That is why I asked the question
#1 I am not complaining about the service tech, I was only locked in a few minutes and it was not even worth while calling outside or yelling because I knew that in a minute or two the door would be unlocked. The guy did the right thing and I am not complaining about him my question is a what if it happened somewhere else.
#2 I am well aware of the fire escape but with my back and knee problems the last thing I want to do is jump out of my camper at a height of 4 or 6 feet off the ground. If the camper were on fire I have an escape window in the bedroom about 6 foot off the ground and another escape window in the living room about 4 feet off the ground.
#3 to repeat the question with this in mind, I have stopped at a few rest stops and truck stops and it is conceivable someone may decide to pull a prank. I do not want to risk breaking a leg jumping out an emergency exit if my life isn't in danger and assuming there isn't anyone around to move the hand rail blocking the doors there a way to open the door without damaging anything?
