I wasn't excited about having an electric awning on our motorhome when we bought it, but it is definitely growing on me. My main complaint when we got it was the inability to pitch it as steep as the manual awning we had on our HTT. It was nice being able to put the manual into carport mode so the arms were out of the way. However, with the electric, the arms are high enough off the ground that they don't get in the way.
I rarely pull it in because of bad weather. I can only think of one or two times when I pulled the awning in because of the weather. In heavy rain, it will dip down on one end to shed pooled water. In heavy wind, the awning will move around. Being able to pull it in when needed without stepping out of the motorhome is nice.
We've had the motorhome for 5 years now and no longer miss the manual awning.
