My friend's power awning (as do many others I've seen) pretty much extends out horizontally, parallel to the ground and will only provide shelter from a very light rain or rain that is driven from street side to curb side. And when it dumps, watch out -- anything within eight feet or so of the end of the awning gets wet from the splash. Maybe there's something wrong with his awning, but the way it works seems to be the way it was designed to work.

I agree, you really need a power awning that tilts. My previous Carefree Eclipse tilted a fair amount but the LCI one I have now really tilts down and at either or both ends; almost like the A&E manual one I had on our 5th wheel. A neat feature is it can be retracted without straightening it out.
