Last year, while participating in the ARRL Amateur Radio Field Day, a sudden thunderstorm came up. My manual awning pulled apart at one of the legs. 4 of us were out there getting it put back together and rolling it up in the wind and rain.
I hate to think of the damage that would have been done to an electric awning. Would it have rolled up after being damaged by sudden 40 MPH wind? I don't know, and I don't want to find out.
I, too, like my manual awning.
Oh, and regarding manual or automatic transmission, YES, I would prefer a manual. However, my knees don't like stepping on a clutch or holding the pedal down, and it is nearly impossible to find a manual in a Class A motorhome.
Shucks, it is nearly impossible to find one in a model year 2000 or later pickup! Sort of like shopping for a standard cab; The marketing "experts" think nobody wants them these days.
They are, of course, WRONG!
