Your rent is 40% of your retirement income? That really doesn't sound bad to me. My rent would be about 35% of my retirement income and I won't have a worry at all. I can do that standing on my head. I wouldn't need to work. If your money is tight then you need to realize that if you want to roll that RV around the country it will probably cost you even more than your apartment. If you want to live cheap, buy a nice, large, used travel trailer with no tow vehicle and pay someone to tow it to a cheap mobile home park. You can live cheap that way. But if you're going to travel around an RV won't be cheap.
