As kids we backyard camped
As young teens we fished all night the local lake
As older teens with drivers license`s, and me being 18, we rented a canvas top pup, and went to the Smokey mountains almost 400miles from home in Indiana, just us four boys ( Coleman lanterns, cook stove, ice chests, fishing poles, sleeping bags etc...)
Ages 15, 16, 17 ,19
This was I the 60s, Try that today
Now 34 ft class A. DP, no slides, we do carry a spare butane one burner stove, and small butane heater, both see a fair amount of use, no lanterns, no fishing poles
Walking sticks, camp chairs, and a two wheel toad, for the side excursions
Edited for age correction
In between I have owned a pup, and two van campers, and three other MHs
