When I was a kid in the 70s my brother and I camped with the Boy Scouts. Then it was a nylon 2 man pup tent, backpack and whatever we could stuff in it. Fast forward to the mid 90s and my wife and I bought a cabin tent, some sleeping bags, gas lantern and stove. We would pack up the 2 kids and the dog and venture a few miles up the road to the state campground and spend a few weekends a month. Now we do the same thing with the grandkids in a 24' camper. Still use the lantern and stove to this day. We haven't changed our camping style much, just a more comfortable sleeping environment.
