I think i found the answer

To finding a good, strong, and cheap tarp. I just got a 14ft x 36ft tarp for 43.00 (shipping included) it was from Billboardvinyls.com. They take the old billboard vinyls and sell them once they are discarded by the company. I originally ordered a 10x36 but they were sold out so they gave me the bigger one for the same price with a 10.00 off coupon. These are made out of very thick reinforced vinyl. Now, granted your tarp may have a logo, or someones face on it, but for the price.... Who cares? Mine is black on one side and has a picture of a Can Am side by side on the other with the BRP logo. And is on a green background. Im going to get a grommet kit and some soft rope so i can tarp the rv during the spring and summer months. ( before i get all the comments, no, it wont be tight on the roof and cook the RV with heat, the green side will go up to reflect as much sunlight as possible, and I will take the necessary precautions to keep it from rubbing on the RV etc...etc...etc...)

Thanks for tip and the link! Sure can't beat the price either.

I have a car port that I am 'forever' buying new tarps for because they shred. Sometimes I have to buy several a year depending on the weather. Going to try out one of these billboard vinyls.

How much was the shipping though? Those things really weigh a lot.

    X2 on "thanks"!!..:C

Go to the site for shipping info and cost (it's *not* free).

Site has "estimator" for state and zip.

    FYI:
    As a test - I entered a 14' x 48'. Price $45. Least expensive shipping to So.CA = $12.02 by FedEx ground.
(FedEx is the only choice, with delivery options.)

On edit: A quick Google search = there are other companies selling billboard vinyls. See link......

    "RePurposed Materials Inc."

    They advertise 3 sizes: 10 x 30 = $60, 10 x 36 = $68, and 14 x 48 = $115. - with *FREE* shipping.
Local pickup avail in: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Denver.

  • suprz, I really have to get much more serious monitoring what the computer "thinks" that I want to say! I can "mess-up" enough without any help! :)
  • Ace hardware has the real deal and the HF punch will cut the fabric if...you sharpen the end of the punch.
  • And just an update, i went to harbor freight and got the kit for putting in grommets... Don't bother.. The tarps come with channels on all 4 ends. They run the entire length and width of the tarp. And besides, just for fun, i tried the hole cutter for putting in the grommet... Lol.. don't bother. It wont cut the tarp. Not surpised i just fished some braided rope thru all the channels and i can use that to tie it down

Thanks for the "heads-up"! That will make a great cover for our compost system (4'x16') here at home. We park the rv in the pope barn.

The Pope barn?! I wish the Pope would build one of those for my RV! :B

  • If you have a local to you sign company that does billboards, they will have them for sale. I use them all the time for covering stuff. I use a grommet setter and brass grommets (Tractor Supply) for hold down points. Most are neoprene coated nylon fabric web, very strong. Easy to cut with shears and easy to deal with and last 10 times as long as the cheapo blue plastic tarps that fall apart....

I bought some that had the 'Feel the Velvet gal on them and used them to cover my barn roof while I was working on it. Got a lot of people driving by looking at the 'Feel the Velvet' Gal.....lol

    Typically, I can buy a 20 x 40 for about 10 bucks locally.
