I used my china bombs for 5 years before installing Maxxis. That included a cross country trip when they were 3 years old. It appears that you take care of the tires and I assume you inspect them regularly for cracks in the sidewalls or tread as I did. When I discovered the cracking after a winter's sleep on the 5th year, I replaced them. Never had a moment's issue. I also did the same with our first trailer except that I traded it in when it was 4 years old before I had to replace the tires.
I've been riding on my cheap factory installed Trail Express tires since 2011. I inspect them all the time and keep the inflation up and redo the bearings every couple of years. I plan to sue them this year again but I'm thinking that I'll be looking at tires next year as they'll be 5 years old with about 8,000 miles on them. I camp mostly within an hour of home but have taken 3 longer trips and never had any issues.
You say you have trail express tires, I have a question for you. Does the surface of the tire look like it's worn rounded? That is a strange way to phrase that but the surface that contacts the road looks rounded rather than flat. Now there wearing evenly just rounded. I had my dealer take a look at them and the service manager told me that the cheap trail express's usually wear that way. Strange to me for sure.
