I know I'm going to set off a hail storm but I truly would like you to weigh in. I have a 2013 Gray Wolf that I bought new last year. The tires were a year old when I bought it thus making them 2 years old now. I am getting ready for a 2000 mile round trip next month and really strongly considering replacing the Trail Express (cheap china bombs) with 4 Maxxis tires. Now the tires look good, it's stored inside when not in use and covered when camping however it's pretty much a peace of mind thing. What would you guys do? I have no intention of upgrading wheels and tires to the LT they will be replaced with the ST version. I'm really looking for what you ST tire guys would do. Thank You in advance for your help.

Why no interest in upgrading to a superior type of tire?

I would leave my 2YO ST tires on the rig and go camping.

I would replace them. If I had not gone to LT tires, I was considering Maxxis. I have a zero tolerance mindset when it comes to having vehicles whizzing past me at 70 mph while I'm changing a tire. Then as soon as you have the spare installed you will be praying that another one doesn't go because you are now running naked. It's just an insurance policy or the Murphys law thing.

I have a 2005 Suncruiser with 60000 miles on it. Original Michelin tires. Look like new! Went to Alaska last summer drove 9090 miles. No problem. Leave them on and go and have fun with the money you save. Cant emagine some people replacing tires just for fun.

What size tire exactly? What is the date code?

Otherwise if the tread looks evenly worn and the surface is even across etc I would run them as is.

I'd just run them the way they are. Tires go bad from sitting in the sun. Rolling oils them, and they will stay oiled on a 5k trip. so you should be fine

Nobody has ever had an LT tire go flat on a trailer, changed along side of the road, and had to hope another goes flat cause they don't have a spare.

While that might be true Carlisle has a stigma to overcome of producing junk tires. My neighbor had one blow out in the spare tire holder. That does not make me want to rush out and buy a set.

I might purchase a set AFTER they have proven that they hold up long term.

Your neighbor had a spare tire blowout how many years ago?

While that might be true Carlisle has a stigma to overcome of producing junk tires. My neighbor had one blow out in the spare tire holder. That does not make me want to rush out and buy a set.

Don't forget that 720# to 900# of that 6000# is tongue weight. That would put 1275# to 1320# on each tire.

Most people respond based on their personal experiences. Secondly, opinions and experiences reported here can't be viewed as anymore than that....you can't really say whether the Carlisle is better or worse than a Maxxis tire....or any other brand.

The sun seems to be the biggest enemy of tires and it sounds like you keep it indoors when not in use and cover tires when in the sun. I just don't trust cheap tires at high speeds.

I am not a fast driver at all, I tow between 55 and 60 max.
