I had a problem with that advice also. BUT it came from a Floridian mobile repair guy who deals with the northern snowbirds who turn the a/c on and on high fan, all the time.
He swears by running the fan on "low". Laymen's terms so it has a chance to melt off. On high it promotes freeze especially in the hot hot humid south.
Us Northerners run it on high all the time up north no problem. But when in the humid south, here to tell you the low fan works.
I put mine on low fan that day have not touched it since and never had any more problems with the A/C. And honestly you don't know the diff in coolness either it being on low because its working more efficiently. Just saying it's what I experienced.
