Last year I installed a shutoff valve on the PEX line to the toilet. I have seen those toilet flush valves fail and the toilet overflow at 2 AM. Not fun. I used a sharkbite connector to install the shutoff valve. Easy-peasy and brings much peace of mind. Why couldn't the manufacturers do that? I know, they don't want to spend the money. Sigh
On a trip we had a leak develop from a crack in the plastic material of the toilet valve. That almost ruined the rest of trip as we could not turn on the water pump or hook up to a campground's direct water supply for the rest of the trip. We sure could have used a shutoff valve in the water line to the toilet so that we could have at least had water in the rest of the RV's system.
However regarding the post I quoted above ... when on hookups we never use fresh water from a direct connection to campground water and instead get our fresh water from the RV's tank via the RV's water pump. We instead always leave the water pump turned off when sleeping or when not in the RV so that a break in a water line anywhere on the output side of the water pump doesn't flood the RV.
