Lumpty, So sorry that happened! I had the same thing sorta happen to me last time I had my old lab/mastif out camping,, We were on our nightly walk,, granted he wasn't on a leash,, he was 12+ years old, never ever left my side even when another dog came around,, we would stop and let the owner control there stupid dog an go by,, same thing,, we were slowly walking by this trailer, and all of a sudden these shoe sized yapping nasty dogs just knocked over the flymsy fence/cage they were corralled in and came running bee line over,, sniping and yelping at my old boy who was turning around trying to defend himself,, I got a half good kick on one of them when the ass hat owner comes out of his trailer yelling at me to leave his dogs alone!!! This guy gets bit three or four times by both of these worthless rats!! One jumps out of his arms and I got a good smack on it!! He yells to his other person (wife,sister,I don't know) to call the rangers!!
Luckily my old boy was not harmed physically,,But holly heck he was shook up as I was!! If I could have gotten a full kick in I am sure he would be leaving with only one rat!!
Long and short of it,, Park rangers showed up and called it a draw because my dog was not on a leash either!!! REALLY!! In all the commotion my dog never left a three square foot perimeter!! There rats traversed ten yards and the road to get at us!! Hope your buddy is ok and that doesn't happen again!! Stupid thoughtless people!!
