My dog was very much on a leash. That was part of the defense problem. One of my hands had the leash and the other a full bag of dog poop I picked up that I was on my way to throw out.
You know, like responsible pet owners do.
The rangers took my info on what happened along with my contact info.
What ticks me off is my old hound was originally a rescue, and had all sorts of behavioral challenges when he was a young adult dog. Through tons of training and love, we've got the best behaved hound I've ever had. He displayed no aggression at all in this episode, just wanting to get away. He seems OK tonight, if a little tired. He isn't quite as eager to spent time outside, and the radar is on a little more when walking, looking for things to come running at him.
He's just a 13 1/2 year old German Shepard with bad hips, an arthritic spine, half deaf with cataracts. A stoic boy that doesn't go looking for trouble. A home the family cat dominates him.
