Ah, the joys of communal living, trying to determine where one boundary ends and another begins. There has to be give and take. You have to expect a bit of intrusion but on the other hand one should do their best so as not to intrude. And that includes light pollution and trying to burn the cleanest campfire possible. I don't like campfires because it aggravates breathing issues but if I stay a at a campground that allows them I just close up if I need too. Biggest issue with that now is so many states don't allow out-of-state firewood in them and you get stuck with the wet wood the campground sells.
I, too, do not understand the need to recreate the scenes from "Christmas Vacation" while camping. And I strongly feel the onus should not be on ME to close out the light pollution from another site. But as I stated before, it's communal living and not everyone understands-or cares about-the impact what they do has on others. So if the situation ain't right, I take the onus on myself to fix it and let it ride.
