Why set yourself up to fail from the beginning? Campgrounds are not quiet and dark. They are over crowded, noisy, smoky and the last three I've been in had a street light that stayed on all night.
Maybe that's why it's been three campgrounds in 20 years for us. When we boondock, if you can see us light up a area so critters don't get the dogs when we walk them at night or run our open frame, then you are too close. I don't drive miles on bad service roads and ruts to see or hear you OR worry that you will see or hear us.
BTW our porch light with a 120 led cob will illuminate a tree line 30 strides out. The dual tube florescent lantern will lite our site and the dual mantle Coleman on a 20 pound tank, hung high will light up a parking lot. We only use them when we walk the dogs at night to keep the critters from thinking the dogs are snack crackers and cheese and then turn them back off because I like it dark too.
