Three of the quietest, darkest nights I ever spent camping was 60 miles from Tok, and 40 miles from Chicken,AK. We broke a spring, pulled into a wide abandoned driveway (former landfill) to park the 5er, unhook the truck, and drive back to Tok to obtain on-site repairs. No sounds, no artificial light, no cell phone service, just a very quiet night to watch the stars- and keep a eye out for bears.
