One thing I always find interesting in these threads is that no one seems to distinguish between types of campgrounds.
For a lot of compact, private campgrounds (the term RV park might be more correct), folks seem to be liberal with lighting- incuding decorative lights. I find that I'll leave my "porch light" on if I will be returning after dark- just like I do at home. And it seems that most other folks in these campgrounds also do that.
In this environement, I'm not sure how valid it is to scream foul for light pollution.
Now, let's switch to a National or State park...you are in the middle of trees, nature, and hundres (or thousands) of acres of nothing. This is a "back to nature" experience. In this environment your lighting needs to be conservative and considerate...and you might expect a lot of camp fires.
Folks who can't figure out why excessive light (or noise) is a problem in this environment are either stupid and or grossly inconsiderate.
Or both!!! LOL
