If you can find a campground with facilities in an area like that I wanna know where it is!
Here's and old, old so-called "resort" campground on a lake that in certain parts of it come really close. Some of the older sites around the lake edge, or slightly back from the water, are a hundred or more feet from each other but have a 20 amp electric outlet and water faucet at each site that are barely sticking up above the grass.
20 amps is plenty enough for these "kindof boondocking feel" campsites and you could run all the scaredi-kat lights you want without blasting your far away neighbors. Probably drink enough beer and eat enough ribs to work up a real loud talk, too, and they would hardly hear ya. Fire smoke is long gone before it's vapors reach the neighbors, too.
But ya have to come to good old CA to get it ... you probably can't stay back East and find one like it. ;)
P.S. Fantastic bass fishing ... and you get to tie up your boat right next to your campsite all week ... or the kids can fish right from the shore for panfish, trout, or bass:

Oh Yeah,, Been there!! They have their own fish!! "CutBow's,, That lake can get noisy at times!! This is a campground where I am a choir boy!! Do Not Attract Attention!! Learned that the hard way there!!
An hour or so before sunrise the campers are up fixin vittles and getting their fishing gear ready to go,,,Then the holler to "Get in the Dam Truck",, Off to the launch,, right across from the store,,, Here's a tip,, find a camp spot AWAY from the store!!! You can often hear the panicked yell of,,,"Hey,,,,,,Yo,,How much beer you want me to get"??? Roads are semi paved in some places,, well by the store its paved,,, the rest becomes a dust storm!!
If you are lucky enough to be in line to launch that is where you will experience the Non Neighborly attitude,, Yep,,the cussing the hollerin,, I even had an individual try and swipe a fishing rod out of my boat on his way back from the store,, holding at least a 40 pack under one arm!!
Finlay,, safety on the water??? Nope!! Had boats run into me trolling,,,, got to see a cool fist fight between boats,,, I did notice that they do not provide floating out houses,,,,, wanna know how I know that??? To see a grown man standing on the half a bow of his 10' aluminum boat peeing into the lake is just something special!!
Oh,, and to top things off,DFG was stopping ALL boats that weekend for mussel inspection,,at a fee!! Had to have your inspection card or they could ban your boat!!
Good fishing though!! Better to go up for the day during mid week!!
