This has been an educational thread for me. We always made our kids be respectful of other campsites and to keep the noise level down. We played no outside music and for sure no outside TV. We kept our camp neat, and kept our fires small but large enough to do S'mores. We only fired up the diesel when absolutely necessary, and kept our speed through the camp at a slow, safe level. We don't drink so we avoided all the "hilarity" that goes with that. We don't take our pets camping. We went camping to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, fish, maybe talk a little more than normal, and relax in the stillness and quietness of the desert/forest/whatever. We normally did have a Coleman lantern till bedtime.
BUT NO MORE!!! I am installing outside loud speakers and a new stereo system. My floodlights for every corner of our 5er are on order. I tell my grandkids not to forget their boomboxes, and that they can play their video games on the TV under our light-strung awning day or night. If it's quicker to go through a neighbors camp to get where you wanna be, just cut on through. I am buying a Rottweiler and a pit bull for companionship. Their barking will help keep undesirables away all night. I bought a police scanner so if they are dispatched to my camp, I can shut it all down till they leave. I am now a 2013 camper, and it feels good!!!
