Well, we're not talking about facts here. We're answering the OP's question plus giving our opinions on related matters. It clearly indicates that there's much diversity in what and why people camp/RV "their" way.
And, the subject is still open to discussion.
What I would like to see is photos some of the foods that y'all fix on a campfire. I did a lot of camping during my years in the Boy Scouts. Yes, learning to cook on a campfire, and on coals, was very much a part of the fun we had. But now, I think it's simply too primitive, incovenient, and dangerous. It makes no sense to graduate to the point where one can afford a well-equipped self-contained unit, and then still have the desire to go back to a primitive way of camping. As you grow older the standard evolution that I see is to go from camping to RVing. Some of us need the big exterior lights, some of us don't. Some of us need a campfire, some of us don't.
Personally, I don't have a problem with any of it, as long as I'm free to do it MY way (which includes leaving a location that's not to my satisfaction).
