My dog (RIP) was trained not to bark at anything.
When we were kids we were considerate and respectful of adults and smart enough to realize when we'd crossed a line. Wouldn't have even THOUGHT about talking like that to an adult.
We were thought the same and the more respect we gave the local cops the more slack they would cut us. We knew that most times that our behavior was wrong. A apology and a promise to go home went a long way back then. Bet you don't see that today!
