My sons started camping at ages 4 and 8. They were both taught proper campground ettiquette and never used other occupied campsites for play purposes, and the were expected to be considerate of others. We started camping in 1988. Now, I observe a lot more campers, adults as well as children, that are oblivious to any sense of manners or consideration for others. I can't blame the kids if they aren't taught any better. As to the parents...well...you think they would develop more sense and consideration.
And...my wife and I enjoyed our careers as teachers and really enjoyed working with kids. The highest majority of our headaches were caused by adults, not kids. Kids just have to learn and understand your expectations and most of them will rise to the challenge.
So...we tend to camp during the week and also love the spring and fall months when school is in session.
