I guess we were never like that when we were young, right? Memories are short.
When I was little, I was terrible. My mother once got so frustrated with me, she wished that I would have kids like me.
I have never had kids :B
When I was a little bigger, I used to play baseball with the other kids at the end of the cul-de-sac near our house. There was an elderly couple that lived near the circle. Every one of the neighborhood kids felt they were mean old grouches that hated kids. If the ball flew into their yard, it was considered lost. None of the kids, including myself, tried to get to know the couple.
I understand them a lot better now, but they are long gone. The ones that used to laugh and talk about the mean old grouches are now mean old grouches themselves. Something about karma...
Well said!
This.
I am 50 and my kids were taught proper respect and boundaries. Not all parents of my generation did that, but most did.
Much of the current generation of parents (from my observation and can't paint them all with the same brush, but there are a lot more of them) for the most part don't do this. Discipline is out the window. That is why attitudes have changed so much. We now have lots of problems because of it including the sense of entitlement in kids coming out of school.
