Enjoyed reading through the pages on this topic.
I live in a 55+ community and occasionally grandchildren will visit and my wife and I enjoy listening to them play and make some noise. Much nicer than hearing the bones creak as our neighbors walk by using their canes and walkers. ;) If they are running or jogging, I know they don't live here.
Yes, I have asked some kids, and adults, to please not pass through our campsite and really haven't had any problem. Seems like we have had more disturbances by barking dogs and drunk adults. I would much rather listen to kids playing and having fun than to a generator that has to be started at 7 am so someone can put curls in their hair.
Combined, DW and I have 65 years in the classroom, and yes, manners have changed by many but there still are a lot of parents out there who are doing the right thing and parenting with respect to others.
"Meet the parent and you then know the child."
Our kids were taught proper camping etiquette and never had any problems and hopefully they set an example for other kids camping.
We enjoy meeting people and if they are a bit loud but having a nice safe time, I don't worry about it but enjoy watching and listening.
We once camped near a family reunion that consisted of about 50 people. Great camping neighbors. They had a blast, played games, had campfires, you name it and were never rude or obnoxious. Made our weekend.
