So there was advice floating around on a past boat forum that properly inflated ST tires were rated for a max speed of 65 mph. For speeds higher, then the official word supposedly was to inflate by 10 lbs higher.
Internet myth as not all ST tire makers recommend tire pressure above sidewall max. Goodyear Marathon is the only ST tire maker that recommends this practice.
Goodyear has recommended this practice for many many years. At one time it was only certain size Marathons that they recommended this practice and a reduction in load was required for traveling at speeds above 65 mph.
In fact Carlisle says this about tire pressure and its warranty;
-Maintain air pressure at the maximum PSI recommended on the tire sidewall.
The Warranty is void if the tire or wheel fails due to damage from improper inflation pressures, exceeding the maximum speed limit, or overloading the tire beyond the maximum load capacity stated on the sidewall.
I would advise anyone with a ST tire still under warranty to first check with your tire dealer before exceeding max sidewall pressures. Every one I've delt with when I was on the road said tire warranty was void if the tire was operated above cold set max pressures stated on the tires sidewall.
