For the life of me I can't figure out why all the people that say they are not in a hurry and like seeing the scenery want to run the interstates. Why not take the scenic back roads and quit jamming up the interstates. The semis are bad enough.
That might be easy in your state but here in Oregon the interstate runs north and south. There's only one. Hwys run east and west except for one interstate at very north edge of the state at the border. Most that travel need to run a portion of the interstate to get to an east west hwy.
hugh?? I live in oregon, portland area and I often go north south w/o using more than maybe 50 miles of interstate. there are lots of north south routes instead of I-5. We like backroads and scenic routes, so we often take I-5 to an east west route to a north south route.
That's what I said.
"Most that travel need to run a portion of the interstate to get to an east west hwy."
If you're heading north or south and live in the valley then using I-5 only makes sense.
If you look at Kentucky, where transamz9 is from then what he's suggesting would be easy. Kentucky looks like a maze of hwys and interstates crossing each other. I could see his logic. Just doesn't work here in Oregon that well.
