Manitoba has already added 1 month on for a total of 7 months Each province is different. As well in Manitoba you can apply for a year of coverage every 3 rd year by application.
As for the USA the Bill hasn't passed yet allowing 8 month stay w/o penalty so ask the US immigration and as well the IRS as there will be issues with them as well. Still will require travel insurance as now.
