Do not go to Corpus, go to the Whitsett yard at exit #83 off I-37. There are FHU sites for the gate guards and they can get your paper work started, plus get your prints done before you drive down to corpus for the final paper work. That way Jamie will know you are there ready to work and in line for a position from the time you get there. Yes, they are still hiring and I doubt you will set in the yard more than a few days waiting for a gate.
