- maxx233ExplorerI thought I'd take this time to chime in publicly. My wife and I are finally in Texas (Dallas) to see about getting a GG job. We're hoping to go down to GGS on monday (does anyone know if they're in the office on the holiday?) to see about registering with them and hoping there's available work in the next couple weeks (anyone know the answer to that too?)... anywho, thought I'd get backup ideas for places to contact if GGS isn't hiring if anyone has any input on that.
I think if there aren't many jobs going right now with GGS we might offer to be emergency stand-ins as has been suggested here if it could be lucrative enough to at least give us gas and food money while we wait for a normal gate :) Hope to be part of the club soon,

First, you'd have to be released and parked somewhere. Second, you'd have to know wether there was room there to begin with. Third, if you're on a gate, you'd be using your car anyway. I'd love to use my own RV; but don't think that's practical. Most of the situations I was writing about were for a day trip. Say to a movie, dinner or maybe a little hideaway where a bell won't bother you :B In an emergency, it's probably going to have to be their RV or your car. The other thing I was thinking of was the girls or guys to get together to go do something. Noone has to relocate in that instance. Most, important is to get a list together of those willing to help in emergencies. I can't believe there aren't people that could be licensed that would like a little extra income. We know there is a need. - jetboater454ExplorerWhat would be the possibility of using your own camper parked next to the one your helping out.To me it would be better to have my own food, dishes, ect.
- GGupExplorerTnx BlondieGirl and mdBass....Yes, they did help get someone. I knew them and Roger of course knew them so it worked out.
I guess, what we should do is tell GGS that when we are off a gate we would be willing to work in an emergency for someone. Then they would have a list to call. Seems like right now, they have a list of GG that are not working but many or some would not want to just work for a few days and others would. I also think that like me, should pay the people mileage and maybe an extra $25 or so a day above the gate rate.
If someone is working a slow gate that is 12 or so hours maybe the other person might want to work at an emergency gate with this type of arrangement. If the person is working just a few hours then maybe a rate of $8 to $10 per hour is in line.
Just some thoughts on this. They fill ins are using our RV so that helps and maybe some would not want to do that so it is again an item to consider when posting or agreeing to work this.
I am at the hospital now and she is doing and looking well. No Dr. in yet today. - mdbassExplorerI have been championing for a solution to this for some time. I believe it will take GGS's involvement; although I suppose we could start a list on our own. It just seems simpler for GGS to do it, since they know where everyone is and have their contact info. We are willing to help in an emergency and open to swapping for personal errands, etc. Someone smarter than me should be able to figure this out :?
- Blondie_GirlExplorerHope your wife is feeling better and will be back home soon.
So glad to hear that everything worked out well for you with your gate. Did your GG supervisor do anything for you? It seems in an emergency like that, the supervisor should have someone out there immediately to relieve you. - GGupExplorerWell, here is the story...Took my wife to Corrizo Springs Hospital and satisfied with the emergency room staff. At 1 am they said she would be ambulanced to Methodist Hospital in SA. So I left and relieved the person that had come over to help. I got to sleep at 2 am and at 4 am the BELL rang. About that time I posted. I had called Roger at 1:30AM so he knew. At 6am my friend a GG came back and I left for SA and hoped I was not late for wifes surgery.
Her appendix had ruptured and they were able to get it out. Might have problems in next 2 or 3 weeks with infection because of the ruptured Ap. She is still in the hospital bue I managed to have some other friends come and sit the gate for several days. So problem is solved but it really is difficult as one can not just up and leave a gate and especially when fracking or drilling going on. So that had to be taken care of. To which friends are valuable and thanks to God for overseeing everything. I do believer wife and I are blessed.
My point in all of this is that maybe we should consider letting our GG contact person know that we would help out someone in such a situation like this . Say we are not on a gate and would like to help or take a short gate if needed in an emergency.
Hope no one has this happen but it can. - Blondie_GirlExplorerOur GGS rep is also Cindy. We can call her or Diane at the Whitsett office or Jamie our supervisor or Jimmy our service man. Usually just calling Diane at the office is all that is needed.

Just never figure for these type of emergencies!!!!
I had surgery Dec 2 but we knew a few days ahead.
We are 8 miles East of Big Wells.
Probably too late now; but our account person said she has someone just for that purpose. Find out who services your account for GGS.
We use ours for any extraordinary issues we have. She seems able to 'crack' the communication wall for us.:)
I think we had Melissa-now we have Cindy. Like I posted-she gets it done. It would help if the policy/procedure was available to all, along with who to contact. But...so goes the life of a contractor. - The_TexanExplorer
