- mimi55ExplorerStill sitting here in the Gonzales yard and have not heard a word as to when we may be sent out. There are 4 of us here waiting. It seems to me that there should be a list that is kept by GGS - field personnel that gives FIFO (first in, first out) placement. Even if you are not in Whitset yard, this same system should apply. I see generator setups going out but no one in this yard has moved in over 2 weeks. Many times when a company grows as quickly as this one did with less experience desk help it becomes too overwhelming for them to handle.
Hopefully, everyone will be working by the end of the week. - The_TexanExplorerBetsy says there are 8 gals there and they are enjoying themselves. Guess they have decided to make it a regular event and move the location around so more will be able to join in.

The license is issued by the DPS, which is also the Texas Highway Patrol. The commissioners have authorized any LEO, state or federal in Texas, to check for the license and to enforce the commission rules. They have been checking in our area and the fine for not wearing your vest on a work site is a couple days pay. You are also required to have your license on your person, if it has been issued and to openly display the valid GGS license visible to the exterior of your RV.
We have never been checked by anyone for our license. I did not know the HP or others were the one checking. I thought the Lease Co. was the one interested. Guess it must be like a drivers license if HP is checking them. Seems like HP would have better things to do than check on us! Border Patrol sure must have and why would they?
What is the http of the website that you are getting the information on pending or completed applications for GGing.
Here is a link to the website for your license. - firedocExplorerA quick question. Does this seeming backup happen every year at this time? Also waiting to see some answers on the question as to whether verteran gate guards get preference over newbies.

Not only have we not been asked for it by the Highway Patrol we have not seen any Highway Patrol, County Sheriff or Border Patrol officers even drive by our gate and we are at the corner of a paved road with fairly regular traffic. Not saying it couldn't happen, just hasn't seemed to be an issue that I have heard much about.
- mdbassExplorerI have friends who have been on a gate since September-still no license?!?! And they have been checked by the Highway Patrol-they got off with a warning! As far as fingerprints go-ink is always best. Digital is difficult for the machine to pickup. That's what the extras are for. I would bet demand has a lot to do with the process.

Like I said, those who go to Corpus, instead of straight to a yard are going to get hosed. The office has NO idea what is happening out in the field.
Hmm, it would seem so :/ we had taken your advice and gone straight to whitsett, but Jaime had directed us to corpus for the paperwork, and we've been stuck since. I'm starting to think we should head back to whitsett and hope for the best! At this point I'm worried about stepping on toes though, making the corpus office wonder what happened to us only to find us out in the field or something. I'm also unsure about the licensing - our names aren't pending on the DPS/PSB site yet, so they either haven't received our paperwork from the corpus office yet, or it takes forever for them to process it.. So I'm not even sure if Jaime could stick us on a gate yet anyway?
My wife and I applied back in Sept 2011 with GSS and submitted all paperwork etc. My security license was issued 10/21/2011, but just now got it from Corpus yesterday after inquiring why I had not received it. This licensing business is a JOKE. After waiting 3 months to receive it, I looked at the photo and it is of another guy, not me. Wonder who mixed/messed this up? Patty at Corpus, or the DPS of Texas? My wife's is still pending according to the website. Her first set of fingerprints could not be read well enough. They submitted the second set and now waiting to see how that turns out. Wondering if the picture ID will be correct or not?:h
