The Gate Guard Ladies get together yesterday at Chili's was fantastic!! Looking forward to the next get together!!! Hee Haw
Lots of fun and gate guarding info shared by all.
I was planning on attending but plans changed.
After installing the new inverter/charger, we still had a couple of electrical problems that we wanted to have fixed.
We talked to several RV service facilities and decided to go to Austin.
So we are now in a hotel in Austin while our motorhome is being worked on.
I guess you could say we are having a little vacation. - bwinceExplorerThe Gate Gaurd Ladies meetings sounds like fun! Maybe one day soon I will be able to see you there.
- bwinceExplorerA big thank you to everyone who gave us input. We also would not have any qualms about telling our experiences with any specific company we have dealt with be it a local retailer or large company. If anyone would prefer to give us their input in a PM, that is ok. Once again...thanks to all and we look forward to learing more until that time we are ready to make the final move towards becoming a Gate Gaurd.

did anyone go to the J & G training? Curious as to what they have to say.
It is a beautiful day here in Cuero.
The training will be held on February 24th. - Ajones42Explorer

............Understand , No ONE , with any sense is going too comeout and provide a listing of the UNdesirable companies and their poor managenment and attitude practices !!! That information should be conveyed through private messaging .
I guess that would be a 'Well, it depends.'
If I have actual first hand experience which I know to be true and factual, I have no problem reporting those facts in a Public Forum where it will get as much exposure as possible. It could be a scam, an unscrupulous RV dealer, repair shop or gate guard company. - mimi55Explorerdid anyone go to the J & G training? Curious as to what they have to say.

We just joined this site and have been toying with the idea of gate guarding. There seems to be so much to learn and know about how to get a job, how to find a good company to work for, what to expect from those comanies. If anyone has any input for a newbie, please let us know. If anyone has any web sites that might be useful, we would appreciate the links and/or suggestions.
For now we are reading the back posts on this topic.

............The actual job involves recording employe name , tag number , company name , location visited , date\time in and date\time out ! The majority of your education will involve learning which supplies you need too sustain yourself for a 2 week period , dealing with the mud , rain , hot weather , cold weather , keeping your RV as clean as possible , keeping mama happy , the psychology of dealing with stupid company men , roughnecks not wanting too stop and be logged in when they're running late and a myrid of other situations the imagination cannot begin too fathom , lol !
............If , you need an income to sustain yourself , like the solitude of wideopen spaces , the beauty of a TEXAS SUNRISE or sunset , cattle meandering along a bobwire fence looking for that last clump of green grass , then you'll enjoy the job ! , jf - mdbassExplorer

Google blogs on Gate Guarding. www.myoldrv.com and others will get you in the loop. As in every industry there are good and bad companies. A lot of us commenting here are with Gate Guard Services out of Corpus Christi. Take everything with a "grain of salt"; but the companies with bad reputations stand out pretty clear. Communication is difficult-these are busy people and a LOT of people are curious about the job-and you have to ask questions and be persistent. - Ajones42Explorer
