- Blondie_GirlExplorerOK..I may be opening up a can of worms, but I have a question. Is GGS giving gates to their experienced gate guards who are waiting before giving gates to the newbies? Just saying...I would be pretty upset if I needed a new gate assignment and the newbies got to go out first. It just seems like seniority should prevail and they should give preference to their experienced gate guards, especially the ones that work year-round.
Just my thoughts.... - maxx233Explorer

Hmm, it would seem so :/ we had taken your advice and gone straight to whitsett, but Jaime had directed us to corpus for the paperwork, and we've been stuck since. I'm starting to think we should head back to whitsett and hope for the best! At this point I'm worried about stepping on toes though, making the corpus office wonder what happened to us only to find us out in the field or something. I'm also unsure about the licensing - our names aren't pending on the DPS/PSB site yet, so they either haven't received our paperwork from the corpus office yet, or it takes forever for them to process it.. So I'm not even sure if Jaime could stick us on a gate yet anyway? - maxx233ExplorerWe're not dieing out here or anything, we're just eager to work. Might as well be getting paid for essentially the same thing we're already doing - sitting around waiting lol ;) One of the old (out of business) Walmarts here has a little nomad village off to the side with several rvs and big rigs that appear to be semi permanent residents, we might go back there and stay just for the convenience of not moving around much.. But so far we've been keeping fairly busy with errands or just checking things out in town and headed for whichever Walmart is closest once it's time to settle in for the night ;) I figure one way or the other GGS is still ahead of the game even offering the service yards at all, I haven't seen any others that do that yet? it's a major reason we'd rather work for them (along with a great track record) than take the supposedly higher pay with j&get.. But yeah, ultimately its also about who can get us at a gate it seems! :)
- The_TexanExplorerJust got back from the Whitsett yard. There were 4 there when I first got there and while there 2 newbies showed up to get a job and are in the electric/water sites. Jamie said 2 are going out tomorrow, so the 2 new couples, who have never worked a gate, will be in FHU tomorrow and in rotation for a job next week. Like I said, those who go to Corpus, instead of straight to a yard are going to get hosed. The office has NO idea what is happening out in the field.
I was amazed at all the new pads in the Pawnee area. There were at least ½ dozen new pads ready for drilling within a mile radius of the town. We may be moving over there to take another Pioneer construction gate in 2 or 3 weeks, so went over to see what it looked like. - mdbassExplorerSounds like to me that GGS could work something out with all the "displaced" folks out there. Perhaps a discounted rate at an RV park nearby or letting them use the portable hookups they already have. Maybe deduct the cost of diesel from their pay after they get on a gate. I don't know-I just hate to see people struggle.
- SlickWillieExplorerWe just traveled over around Beaumont and back. I noticed what looks to be a temporary set up yard just south of Victoria. There was some equipment along with about a half dozen RVs in the yard. Thinking it might be some GG company yard. Didn't see a sign of any kind. Posting this merely for anyone that might be interested. Just south of the Speedy Stop Exxon on 77.
- maxx233ExplorerMy wife and I are still hanging out in Corpus Christi hoping a service yard with GGS at least opens up soon so we can wait it out without bouncing between walmarts. We keep asking them but they keep saying everything's full, try back in a couple days. It's been about a week and a half since we got here and got all the paperwork submitted with them, so really hoping we can get out there soon! Are you in the same boat mimi, or are you out there now?
That said, I've been in contact with the guy from J&G Security. We're trying to possibly get a gate with them, but he is definitely more difficult to communicate with than GGS - so together with all the info here I'm at least reasonably suspicious. But, like I said, I have at least spoken with him and exchanged emails, which seems to be more than others have reported - and while speaking he seemed to know what he was talking about *shrug* I'll contribute any useful info I have on that as it develops, and am definitely interested in the reports on the service yards so I have some idea when things might open up! :)
Maxx - mimi55Explorerour GGS service guy out of Corrizo Sprgs was here today. He told me there are 4 couples waiting there as well.
