During love bug season and you HAVE to get those off your vehicle ASAP.....if I have to go somewhere that's going to take over an hour where the vehicle is going to inundated with copious amounts of those darn paint eatingbugs, I take paste wax and do the nose of the vehicle and LEAVE THE WAX ON. That way they are sticking to the wax and not the paint. When you get back wipe the wax off with the bugs.
When I would hit the Georgia line with my MH I would stop and heavily wax the front of it and take it off when I got to the CG.
