Integrated Hitch vs. P3

Hey guys,

I just purchased a 2014 Expedirion with an integrated brake controller. My question is will that controller work well or should I try to install my P3? I have a 26 Flagstaff RLS with the Pro Pride hitch.

Thanks,

Deano

  • Keep the integrated controller. Most, if not all on these forums prefer the integrated controllers myself included.
  • Remember this: The Integrated Controllers and connected into the TV Computer system, so it knows exactly what the TV and it's brakes are doing and can activate the trailer brakes to match. I've got approx 55K miles towing two different 5ers with the current TV and no issues.
  • That's the answer I was hoping for! Thanks for the responses.
  • I sold mine for what I paid for it when we upgraded to a truck with IBC. Love it, never had a problem.
  • Same here, if it's the same as the controller on the F150 it works great.
  • Don't bother with the "P3", try the Integrated controller FIRST..

I think your first time towing with a Integrated controller and you will simply want to throw the P3 into the waste can (HINT, IBCs are THAT GOOD!)..
  • I recently bought a 2014 F 150 with integrated brake controller.
Now I leave my P3 in the other truck.
The factory unit seems to do a fine job so far. I've got a couple thousand miles on it, no problems.
  • Although I am partial to the p3, the integrated controller should be fine and also will keep things uncluttered. Also something to consider is when they put in a factory controller do they also put in the pigtail to hook the aftermarket controller to?? Probably not but I'm just guessing.
