While I have not heard of a diesel version of the Jeep, I would not hesitate for 1 second if you want to buy a Jeep setup for towing. There are 1000 's of them on the road and as long as the Jeep is setup to be towed (not all are) it is something you can buy with confidence. Mine has a lifetime, unlimited mileage, warranty from Jeep so I have additional confidence that should I ever have problems down the road they will be mitigated by the warranty.
Seriously? A Suburban. Buy the (gas) Jeep and live happily ever after.
