So many of the others, quite a reflection (poor reflection) of where our society is. Somehow, that "I" am so much better than all the other travelers stuck out on that stretch of road and how everyone out there is just laying in wait to rip "me" off.
Compassion and tolerance are in short supply in our society. Hopefully I'll live long enough to see the needle on that dial change.
What if the person desperate enough to knock on a complete stranger's door is Jesus (or Mohammed, Buddha, Jah, the Flying Spaghetti Monster) in disguise?
DW would say "NO", because she's misanthropic. I'm more of the "Love thy neighbor" type.
