I used to think so but in the last two weeks I have had text messages from some supposedly financial institution saying my credit card was temporarily disabled due to suspicious activity and to call XXX. I realized it was a scam and didn't call but did some checking. There was a credit union in my area with that name but I do not have an account with them. I also did a reverse number lookup and the number that sent the text and the number to call were both AT&T mobile numbers from the Washington, DC area. Now why would a bank/credit union have a mobile number???
