IRS Scam Alert

I received a phone call from 213-928-7949. It was a recorded message from a woman saying she was from the IRS and to call her back immediately or the IRS would prosecute me.

SCAM SCAM SCAM....documented on the internet. Beware you seniors, she sounds seriously scary on the phone.

Wife is bored, so I hope they don't call. Last scam someone tried. She played along.
Ended up with me and kids and cops waiting, on the perps, in a parking lot armed to the teeth.
They never showed and didn't intend to they wanted a number off a green dot card or something she was supposed to buy. I'm too old for bear hunting.
I told her don't ever do that again.
Got a call a few days later about free cruise. She didn't get to the phone before I did.

Sorry that you missed the cruise. We had a great time. :)
  • I just use THIS on the unwanted robo calls after it has been on my machine for a few days all robo/scam calls stop, when the start coming back I put it on again.
  • A neighbor told me that he tells pesky sales people that if they ever call again he is going to make an appointment with them and there is going to be a butt kicking "party" waiting for whoever shows up. That ends them.

My cell never gets these calls.

I used to think so but in the last two weeks I have had text messages from some supposedly financial institution saying my credit card was temporarily disabled due to suspicious activity and to call XXX. I realized it was a scam and didn't call but did some checking. There was a credit union in my area with that name but I do not have an account with them. I also did a reverse number lookup and the number that sent the text and the number to call were both AT&T mobile numbers from the Washington, DC area. Now why would a bank/credit union have a mobile number???
  • Several years ago my daughter tried to sell her flute on Craigslist. A guy contacted her right away and said he was interested. He wanted to send her a (stolen or forged) check for $1500 and have her send the flute and the change back to him. At the time I was a contractor working for the FBI Training Center. I told him that if he ever contacted my daughter again I was going to send the FBI the string of e-mails. We never heard from him again.
