IRS Scam Alert

I received a phone call from 213-928-7949. It was a recorded message from a woman saying she was from the IRS and to call her back immediately or the IRS would prosecute me.

SCAM SCAM SCAM....documented on the internet. Beware you seniors, she sounds seriously scary on the phone.

IF you get any phone call from the IRS. with one exception, it is a SCAM.

That exception is if you call them and REQUEST a call back.

There is another scam where they call you and tell you they are giving out an award for being a good citizen,, all you need do is send them a security deposit.

(Took me a long time to get to the point where they ask for that)... Guess what, Federal law says if they tell you YOU HAVE WON, they can not ask you for any kind of front money to send you the prize.. It is a scam.

If you think bank robbers are bad... Well the annual take from robbery, all kinds of robber, would be a very slow month in the SCAM business.
  • If the IRS wants your money, they just take it as evidenced by recent developments whether you're right or not. They don't need to call you.
  • I had a guy call from India with the "your computer is going to crash in 45 minutes" scam. Originally hung up on him, but when he called back I had some fun for about a half hour. I even told him that the longer I kept him on the line, the less chance he had to scam someone else, but he still wouldn't give up.
  • Yep. the IRS is not going to call you and then wait to have you call them back! especially if you supposedly owe them money.
  • we got it also. woman saying there was legal action pending against us.

called again and hubby answered. the lady transferred him to a guy that said we owe the IRS for evasion and the cops were coming to our house in 45 mins. to arrest us....HAHAHA

said we owed 3K, which became 8K with penalties and then we owned $45k BUT could negotiate a deal.

WELL hubby told that guy a few things on that second call. he got an earful.

the scams are alive and well out there. everyone be smart!!!
