If your son is loading what I think he could be. A slightly longer trailer with dual 5k axles might be a better cheaper option in long run.
His trailer would ride rough empty. 6k trailer springs have very little fkex, add in 10ply LR e tires at 80 lbs per side. A 1200lb empty trailer is going to ride rough! Just as my 2600 lb equipment trailer, 2300 on axles, 300 he rides rough for the same reason. Load it to 10500-11000 on axles, 1500 hitch. Smooth riding son of a gun.
