Is being a little over GVWR no worse than doing 60 in a 55?
OMG!! I do both am I a super danger on the road??? :h
Well as Blt2ski pointed out, neither is a big issue if the total package is safe and driven in a safe manner!
While I am well over my TV's 8,800# GVWR, I am still under both GAWR, front by 600# rear by about 630# to 1,374# depending how you look at my rear axle rating! the current 6,084 rating is the total of the stock tire rating. Well this truck came with a Camper Package with larger 265/75-16E tires that have a rating of 3,415# com paired to 3,042# for stock tires. I will likely be able to stay under the stock 6,084# rating even when full timing.
Speed, well on secondary roads I tend to travel with the traffic flow which is about 60 in a 55 zone. I feel that this is a courtesy to other drivers and seems to cut way down on crazy passes. If I am the 1st vehicle behind a slow moving vehicle I will pull out and pass after offering those behind me the opportunity first. I am speaking on a two lane road without a passing lane.
