Is being a little over GVWR no worse than doing 60 in a 55?

We're struggling between a Lance1985 and a 2285 and to add to that struggle are concerned about our RAM1500 tow capabilities. Many, maybe a majority, are pulling 1985s and 2285s size TTs, 4500 to 500...

The OP's analogy is actually spot on...

Going faster will require more everything (distance, braking power, etc)
to stop

Going over the ratings will require more of everything (distance, braking
power, manhandling ability, etc) to stop and manhandle the setup

Ditto on wearing out his TV & other equipment...it will wear out sooner
than later

All of that is baked in from "The laws of physics"...
