Is it possible to transfer a RV without a title?

Like others said, it very much depends on the state. It may also vary within the state for trailers vs. motorized vehicles.

The New England states, or at least the northern ones, do not issue (or require) titles for vehicles over about fifteen years old, the exact age varying from state to state.

I suspect that most states will require something similar. Hopefully for the OP the estate is willing to do this.

Kansas is probably going to want sales tax on the original sales price of the rig if it was not paid. The original owner may have bought the unit out of state and did not pay any sales tax. The sales tax is then paid when you apply for the license plate in your home state. Since he never put a plate on the trailer, maybe he never paid sales tax. If it was bought in state, then the tax would have been paid at the time of purchase. Is there any dealer sticker from the rv dealer where the rig was originally bought on the rig anywhere?

The deceased persons estate is going to have to talk to the DMV, just to make sure everything is up and up and avoid any issues down the road before any money is transfered.

I know a guy who's sitting in jail right now because he bought a boat without a title and turns out it was stolen. The guy doesn't have a pot to pee in to start with and does have some other things on his record which didn't help. But if you believe the story (and from what I know, I do believe it), he did pay someone for a boat like a normal transaction and then notified the authorities when someone else told him it was stolen. Should have never bought a nice boat without a title, but some people don't always use good judgement.

I'm not saying the OP is going to jail because of buying an untitled trailer, but the above story should be worth consideration.
