I would think put Mum and the kids into the unit at a campground for two weeks, and you get there on weekends, and maybe mid week if that fits.
In the fall you set up again, and take a kid or two midweek, get them to give you some homework to be done in the camper, and Mum plays the commute back and forth as she can.
