My first thought was summer camp for the kids. Send them off for a few weeks and go camping in the fall.
Growing up we spent a lot of summers in a camp ground while dad drove back and forth to work.
I think if we knew we were only going to use the trailer once a year, I would sell it and rent for that trip or stay in a cabin, etc. No up keep, no worries and you always have a newer rig.
