When my wife lost her last job, I wanted to do the same thing and take off on a 3~5 month trip around the country but she got an offer she couldn't pass up within a week.
That was 5 years ago and I see no end in sight. Heck, she can't even take more than a week off anymore because of her workload.
If you don't take the oppertunity, it may never come again.
