Lots of good advice here, so I'll just add that software Jobs are plentiful if you're comfortable contracting. With Trump's tax laws and Obama's healthcare, you'll probably come out ahead carrying private insurance and working as a 1099. If you've never contracted, don't be hesitant and try it out. There's also a lot of remote developer jobs, so double bonus!
That said, apply for and draw unemployment as long as you can. Also see if you can work out a severance deal that gives you PTO that you can cash out or that extends your medical benefits, perhaps instead of some other less valuable benefits.
