I did that for a while. When the prior shut down Detroit, there was nothing here. DW was still working, but when we could an did travel in the coach (now free of my business load, means I unloaded the tools), I always carried a printer (which I had on board for business anyway) and the resume was in my laptop. Several times, we found places that might be interesting so I would sit in their parking lot and trim the resume to fit and put on nice clean clothes while it printed.
I did get some offers, but none worth losing the dole payment. I also got some offers that convinced me not to talk to them again.
We worked things like this a lot until DW go the opportunity to pull that plug.
I still carry the printer. The laptop is now for navigation and e-mail.
