- TNGW1500SEExplorerLooked at these Ford Transit vans:
It comes in three different roof heights. The "medium" roof will allow the bikes under it but the weight of the van and the bikes gets too much.
So we looked at the Ford Transit Connect:
It's a small van that comes in two wheel base options. I'd have to have the longer one. There's a "high roof" version but the door opening is not high enough.
Nissan makes one but it looks like the weight is also a problem.
I'm not sure there's anything out there that is big enough, high enough and light enough.
If I had a DP that could tow more weight, I'd have more options.
Seemed like such a great idea (the toad as a garage) but I may have to give up on it.

New Ram van dsl is flat towable. All other 2wd vans would need a driveline disconnect. You can get a 4wd van from Quigley or one of the other converters and flat tow those as you can put tcase in neutral. Finding a baseplate for Ram might be a problem.
I really don't want a diesel. Seems like there just isn't that many options in a tow-able van. Looks like if I'm going to do it, I'll need a driveshaft disconnect and I'm going to have to watch the weight. - nevadanickExplorerNew Ram van dsl is flat towable.
